NEARBY SERVICES

ATM/Currency exchange. Just 400 meters down the road are two ATM’s available 24 hours per day. One delivers USD, one MXN pesos. There is also a currency exchange facility. Most businesses in Tulum accept USD; however, they will always highball the exchange rate to protect them against currency exchange fluctuations. Expect to pay an extra 1% on purchases if you are going to use USD. It is recommended that you use Pesos, as this is the local currency and what the locals use in their daily business.

Bike/Scooter rental. There is a great store just 400 meters down the road from Papaya Playa that rents bikes for $10 USD/day. Snorkel sets (fins/mask) for $7 USD/day and motorized scooters for $40 USD/day.
Laundry. The resort uses an eco-friendly laundry service in town. Guests can simply drop their dirty bag of laundry off at the reception desk by 10am daily. The turnaround is usually 24 hours, though sometimes 2 days. The price is based on weight, though usually comes to around 60 pesos per bag ($5 USD).

Groceries. A small bodega (grocery store) is located a short 400 meter walk down the road. There you can purchase basic food staples, booze, cigarettes, ice cream and bathroom items. A Chedraui (Mexican version of Walmart) is located 3 kilometers from the resort towards town. You will pass this on your way to Papaya Playa, it is on the left side of the road, and several hundred meters once you turn left off the highway.
